Day 5 – 2019

Being a father is hard.
Being a father that does not live with his boys is even harder.
Not to mention the additional barriers that are put up while away.

However, I know what I have to do to be in their lives as much as possible. They are still growing, developing, and I have to try to be in their lives so they know I love them and I do really care.

I’ve been asked more times than I can count, “Is it hard to be so far away from them?”
Do I have to answer that question if you have seen our pictures or heard the travel stories? Do you know me or my love for my boys? Have you been paying attention or just scrolling through our pics and thinking “What a nice place!”?

Yes, I miss them. In all their boyish wonders, random conversations, silly noises, funny walks, inquisitive questions, wide-eyed wonder at seeing something for the first time, and their sweet faces as they sleep the sleep of tired bodies and full minds.

I fight every day to be the best father when I’m away and when I’m with them.
They are the sweetest gifts I’ve ever been given and I know they will get even better with time.
