Geometric shapes

I've been toying with the idea for a while. I have a shape that I want students to color based upon certain criteria I give them.
This time I gave them the choice of only two colors. I then let them color as they choose. I had one student ask me how to start but I gave no additional instructions. Another student said, "I messed up. Can I have another one." I refused and said to work it out. The outcome was very good.
Here are a few links to the pictures. Please forgive the quality but it is what I have.

  1. I think your choice not to give your pupils another sheet of paper was a good thing.

When did it become "normal" to get a brand new thing if you messed up the thing you already have?

I think your approach forces the children to be creative in a way they wouldn't have bothered to if they had got a new sheet.

And the outcomes certainly turned out to be nice!

  2. Thank you so much for the compliment. I also have no idea of where a mess up means a new sheet of paper. I have so many who do mess up and ask for a new homework paper. Again, I refused and tell them to write the answers beside the problem or on another blank paper from home. I'll be working with them specifically on what to do when they mess up.
Thanks again for the comment and reading this blog.
